Dr. Franklyn Frimpong, with over 20 years of service in WFP as the Chief Air Transport Officer, has served in South Sudan (Operation Lifeline Sudan era), Indonesia (during the Tsunami emergency response), Sudan (on two occasions), Chad, South Sudan (as a sovereign state), and Somalia/Kenya before taking his current post at WFP HQ, Rome as the Director of Aviation Service.

Within the UN system, he has also served with UNDOS (then DFS) and UNHCR – where he was seconded from WFP as the Senior Repatriation Coordinator responsible for the repatriation of the Ivorian refugees and for the Liberian refugees – under the Cessation Clause.

He holds a PhD in Business Management, specializing in Project Management, and a Master’s in Business Administration. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Fellow (FCILT) of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK. He is an ex-air Force pilot with an FAA Commercial Pilot License, USA.
